Casshern

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Okay, I finally saw Casshern because I’ve been into the concept Sentai Deconstructionism. This isn’t Sentai Deconstructionism. This is a music video director using an intellectual property to give an anti-war/humans shouldn’t hate rant. I’m all for peace and love, but not a badly constructed plot. Plus, Casshern wasn’t created to be a metaphor for Japan’s mistakes in WWII (I’m looking at this from a Filipino-American point of view). Casshern was created to karate chop robots, hang out with a robot dog, and probably sell toys.

…and that Shiino Ringo song was in there for no reason.

Although, the Backhorn song was catchy

The Cube

Matt|MySpace Videos

Jim Henson is one of those unassuming artists. Sure, you think he’s all about hand puppets. But how many artists in the last 100 years have changed and affected the overall worldwide culture like Jim Henson? He was an innovative filmmaker with films like “The Dark Crystal” and “Labyrinth”. He was ahead of his time.

I first saw “The Cube” in black & white. I found it challenging and funny and brilliant. Here it is in color.

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Do you like a good story? I like a good story. I especially like a good story read to me as I’m working on the computer at wee hours in the morning.

One new find is writer Tim Pratt who I found on Escape Pod

Origin Story
Is about the life of a superhero as told by his older brother.

Impossible Dreams
This Hugo Award winning story is about a movie lover who finds a very interesting video store.
